About

Hasan Al Zubayer Rony is a unique professional whose journey traverses the skies of commercial aviation and the evolving landscape of academic innovation. From the cockpit of a Dash 8 Q400 aircraft to classrooms and national curriculum panels, Rony’s career reflects a rare convergence of technical mastery and educational depth.

Born and raised in Bangladesh, Rony has always been driven by curiosity—whether it’s soaring above the clouds or decoding the intricacies of modern learning models. He holds an MPhil in Science Education from the Institute of Education and Research at the University of Dhaka, where his research focused on blended learning models in tertiary education in Bangladesh. His earlier academic accolades include a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Education (Honors), both achieved with top-tier results and scholarships.

Rony’s early professional years were rooted in education. He joined Green University of Bangladesh as an Assistant Professor and quickly became a core figure in the university’s Center of Excellence for Teaching & Learning (CETL). There, he led the design and facilitation of several faculty development programs, including semester-long certificate courses in teaching and learning, and training sessions in e-learning and active teaching methodologies. His passion for pedagogy extended beyond university boundaries—he served as a trainer for the British Council’s Connecting Classrooms program, helping school leaders across Bangladesh enhance their core skills and leadership.

In parallel, Rony carved out a dynamic path in the field of aviation. Earning his wings at Arirang Flying School and Galaxy Flying Academy, he holds multiple licenses including a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Flight Instructor Rating (FIR), with more than 1300 hours of flying time on aircraft such as the Cessna-152 and Cirrus SR-20. His expertise also includes simulator experience and specialized training in crew resource management, flight instruction techniques, and avionics procedures like Jeppesen SID and STAR navigation. Currently, he serves as a First Officer at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, where he continues to deepen his operational experience while contributing to Bangladesh’s aviation ecosystem.

Beyond his professional roles, Rony has made significant contributions as a curriculum and content developer. He worked with the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) of Bangladesh to author and review digital technology textbooks for secondary education. He also provided consultancy to the University Grants Commission (UGC) for developing online teaching modules for public universities and actively participated in shaping national teacher development frameworks under the National Academy for Education.

Rony’s research portfolio is equally diverse. He has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from aviation education to cryptocurrency accessibility among youth and digital engagement tools like Kahoot in online classrooms. He has presented at international conferences in Bangladesh and abroad, including in Bangkok, and received research funding from both academic and aviation authorities. His work is available on Google Scholar, ORCID, and ResearchGate, where his growing body of publications continues to attract scholarly attention.

Community engagement has always been a vital part of Rony’s ethos. He is a founding member of Bangladesh Science Outreach and has supported various youth-led social initiatives, from education projects for underprivileged children to environmental advocacy forums across South Asia. A former president of the Dhaka University Mountaineering and Adventure Club, he has even summited the Thorong La Pass in Nepal—an experience he credits for strengthening his resilience and leadership under pressure.

Whether it’s preparing the next generation of pilots, designing transformative learning environments, or contributing to national curriculum reforms, Hasan Al Zubayer Rony embodies a forward-thinking, cross-disciplinary spirit. He stands at the intersection of education and aviation with a vision rooted in innovation, lifelong learning, and impactful service—both in the skies and on the ground.
